ESL Resources

This page of resources includes Prezis I have made and links to other valuable resources.

Prezis are an innovative way of organizing and presenting information. You can hit the "play" button, and you will be led through the parts of the presentation. It's sort of like being led through a handout except that details are so small that you can't see them until you need them. Alternatively, you can click on sections of the Prezi to explore, and as you zoom in and out, you will see other parts of the Prezi.

My Prezis. (If you know what you're interested in, open the Prezi below. If you'd like to browse, open any Prezi, then click on my name to see the rest of my Prezis.

What is English? What are its parts? This Prezi includes a brief history of English and how it has changed, an overview of the parts (from sounds to the parts of speech to sentences), and the larger units of organization (paragraphs, essays, etc.). (under construction)

Links to Prezis for the parts of speech can be accessed above, or separately here: nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, and adverbs (by basic type: time, place, manner, degree, condition, and reason).

IMRD Research Format: This Prezi reviews the sections of an IMRD research paper and what should be in each section. Though it uses hypothetical studies to illustrate what goes in each section, it does not yet include a sample research paper.

The Five Language Registers: This Prezi (under construction) reviews the 'levels' of English and how they are used.

Conversational Pragmatics: This Prezi provides an overview of the relevant questions to ask when considering the extra-textual cultural norms of conversation, the stages of conversation, and advance pragmatic tasks.
